AveMix® MCT 6/8

The natural antimicrobial oil

AveMix® MCT 6/8 is an antimicrobial concept composed of medium-chain fatty acids esterified with glycerol, also referred to as medium-chain glycerides. Due to its unique fatty acid composition, the antimicrobial action of AveMix® MCT 6/8 supports animals by helping them to maintain a healthy status and optimal performance.

The development of our AveMix® MCT 6/8 concept is inspired by nature. The gut of most mammals becomes populated with bacteria within a few hours after birth. However, this does not apply to rabbits. The presence of natural medium-chain glycerides in rabbit milk, in combination with the gastric lipase of the suckling animal, keeps the stomach and small intestine sterile during the suckling period.

The slow-release effect of AveMix® MCT 6/8 enables the active components to be released along the gut, with a particular emphasis on the small intestine. AveMix® MCT 6/8 is highly specific against common Gram-negative pathogens such as E. coli and Salmonella spp. due to its unique composition of C6 and C8 fatty acids. This selective antimicrobial action does not harm beneficial bacteria, instead promoting them within the gut microbiota. This results in optimal gut health as well as an efficient and economic use of nutrients and energy.

AveMix® MCT 6/8 is suitable for:

  • Poultry

  • Pigs

  • Ruminants

  • Aquaculture
